From investing in eco-friendly transportation to fostering community collaboration, we&#8217;re committed to doing our part to create a cleaner, greener future for St. Louis.<\/p>\n<p>This month, we\u2019ll be looking at the programs, practices and partnerships that are helping Metro Transit deliver on that commitment. Here\u2019s how we\u2019re making a sustainable impact one stop at a time.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Community Partnerships Strengthening Regional Green Efforts <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Sustainability isn\u2019t something we can achieve alone\u2014it requires a community collective. That\u2019s why Metro Transit has forged partnerships with local organizations like <a href=\"http:\/\/greatriversgreenway.org\">Great Rivers Greenway<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/trailnet.org\/\">Trailnet<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/scctd.org\/\">St. Clair County Transit District<\/a>, who promote environmentally-friendly travel and investment in transportation infrastructure that supports pedestrians and cyclists.<\/p>\n<p>In Illinois, the St. Clair County Transit District\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/scctd.org\/metrobikelink\/\">MetroBikeLink<\/a> consists of more than 39 miles of interconnecting trails and bike paths, with many sections running adjacent to MetroLink and directly connecting to six Metro Transit Centers. In Missouri, there are 135 miles of greenways connecting our region, like the <a href=\"http:\/\/greatriversgreenway.org\/brickline\">Brickline Greenway <\/a>serving the Cortex Innovation Community and Cortex MetroLink Station. When completed, this pathway will connect Cortex with the Grand MetroLink Station, Energizer Park and downtown St. Louis.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Green Events That Connect and Inspire\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Metro Transit\u2019s engagement team is also actively involved in green initiatives and events throughout the region. Connect with them at these upcoming events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stlzoo.org\/events\/one-health-planet-climate\">St. Louis Zoo Climate Solutions Day:<\/a>\u00a0 April 5 | 10 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/prestoncommunitygarden.org\/\">Preston Community Garden:<\/a> April 12 | 9 a.m. &#8211; noon<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/earthday-365.org\/festival\/\">St. Louis Earth Day Festival<\/a>: April 26 &amp; 27 | 11 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m. both days.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Through these opportunities, our team members are available to answer transit questions and share information about our sustainability programs and practices.
